SAN FERNANDO, ARIZONA
Master William St. James, 38, was shocked to be handed a cease and desist letter the day following what he described as a “typical flogging session” at his local dungeon.
The letter claimed that St. James’ use of two handed flogging techniques, particularly in the “Florentine style” violated several trademarks assigned to Master Matt Quinn, a 28 year old Dominant from Austin, TX.
“Apparently he sends spies out to watch at dungeons nationwide and gets updates whenever someone picks up a flogger,” according to St. James. The letter also demanded a settlement fee of $2000 and a document to sign and return promising not to continue flogging in Quinn’s style.
After consulting an attorney, St. James has opted to simply ignore the letter. Apparently, others have not been so brave. Reports vary but some in the community believe that Quinn is maklng more than $100,000 a year from sending these letters.
